BARBARA ROMAIN

River Reverie

Acrylic collage on canvas, 24 × 30 inches

ABOUT THIS WORK

River Reverie is what a memory of water sounds like. 24 × 30 inches, acrylic collage on canvas. From Barbara Romain's mixed-media body of work — paintings that combine text, collage and painted surface simultaneously, and that the estate considers among the most complex pieces in the archive. Painted after her sight had largely receded, this is landscape filtered through memory, color and rhythm. A slow current you feel before you see.
