BARBARA ROMAIN

Mother Earth

Acrylic on canvas, 24 × 36 inches

ABOUT THIS WORK

Mother Earth is the painting Barbara made for the planet, not about it. 24 × 36 inches, acrylic on canvas. From the spiritually charged seam of Barbara Romain's later work — paintings that carry ecological grief and matriarchal love at the same volume. Made by a painter increasingly working from feeling, memory and the sound of her brother Elliott Levin's free jazz, rather than from direct observation. A painting that stares back. Fierce, tender, and in no mood to be ignored.
