Hard Rain

From a North Hollywood storefront to the Kennedy Center in three years.
Hard Rain is her Bob Dylan painting, built the way she built all of them: the record on, one layer of paint answering each element of the song, the words laid on last. She kept its text in a file of her own, headed in her own spelling — HARD RAIN GOONA FALL.
“I would put up a big canvas and I would listen to a song over and over again,” she said. “I would make a layer with the drum and then I would make a layer with the guitar and on top would be the lyrics usually.”
She named it herself as one of the three paintings that define the method — with Bad Eye on the Good Foot and Children of the Revolution. Of those three, this is the one that went to Washington.
