BARBARA ROMAIN

Untitled (Purple Palm Tree in Cursive)

Acrylic on canvas, 18 × 24 inches

ABOUT THIS WORK

Untitled (Purple Palm Tree in Cursive) is a palm tree written, not drawn. 18 × 24 inches, acrylic on canvas. Barbara Romain's text-based instinct meets her California landscape in this purple, cursive-written palm — language and image collapsed into a single gesture. From the body of work where she let handwriting do what the brush used to do. Half love letter to Los Angeles, half signature, all swagger.
